Congratulations APC, Fayemi - Aisha Buhari reacts to Ekiti election victory

Hajia Aisha, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, joined other prominent Nigerians on Sunday, July 15, in celebration of the electoral victory of former minister, Kayode Fayemi, in the Ekiti gubernatorial poll held on Saturday, July 14.

Aisha Buhari also congratulated the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the victory of the party.

In a single tweet, the wife of the president said: “Congratulations to All members of APC, His Excellency the governor-elect of Ekiti state, D Kayode Fayemi, and the people of Ekiti state.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that the information and culture minister, Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, July 15, described the victory of Kayode Fayemi at the governorship election held in Ekiti state as a defeat for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and another set of people.

According to Mohammed, the election result shows that the people have spoken in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“With the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded Ekiti governorship election, Nigeria people have spoken, and they have spoken loudly, about their perception of the APC-led Buhari administration.

“The election was more than one state's gubernatorial poll. It was a referendum on the performance of the Buhari Administration. And Nigerians have given their verdict!" He said.

Legit.ng also reported that the governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Sunday, July 15, congratulated Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ekiti governorship election, for his victory.

Fayemi was declared winner of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), defeating his closest rival, Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 197,459 to 178,121 votes.
