He refused to pay N10,000 he promised - Drivers blame Fayose for violence in Ekiti

- Governor Ayodele Fayose has been blamed for the violence in Ekiti

- He allegedly refused the pay bus drivers the amount he promised them

- The Police was called in to quell the violence

Bus drivers in Ekiti were reportedly responsible for the violence that erupted in the state Government House which they blamed on Governor Ayodele Fayose’s refusal to pay them the N10,000 he promised.

Leadership reports that the governor had asked bus drivers to park their buses at the Government House so as to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign with a promise to pay them N10,000 each.

The aim was to make it difficult for people to attend the APC rally.

It was however reported that the drivers were only paid N2,000 sparking violence in the Government House.

Kamoru Ojuolape who is one of the leaders of the drivers’ union claimed they were angry that they were paid less than promised and when they insisted on seeing the governor, his aides attacked them.

The drivers reportedly responded with violence and the police was called to quell the heated atmosphere.

The police allegedly dispersed the people with tear gas before eventually inviting the drivers’ union for questioning.

It will be recalled that the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, raised alarm that he was physically assaulted by some officials of the police command. The governor said that he was slapped and shot at by security personnel who, according to him, were given instructions to kill him.

Fayose said policemen deployed to the state for the Saturday, July 14 governorship election stormed the pavilion where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was holding their rally and harassed him.

The governor, who emerged with a neck brace narrated his ordeal and asked supporters of the party to remain resolute and vote for his deputy, who is also the governorship candidate of the PDP, Professor Olusola Kolapo
