Presidency lists 7 steps FG has taken to tackle the killings in Plateau

- Presideny has released a list of steps taken by the federal government after the recent killings in Plateau state

- The presidency said the steps will forestall a recurrence of such violent killings in the state

Presidency has realeased a list of actions taken by the Muhammadu Buhari's administration after the recent killings in Plateau state.

The steps are to forestall a recurrence, rebuild affected communities, and promote peace and dialogue.

In the list released by the Presidency Office of Digital Engagement (PODE), the presidency listed seven steps taken after the violent attacks in Plateau.

The steps are:

1.The Nigeria police deployed the police special intervention force to Plateau state to Barkin-Ladin, Riyom, and Jos south LGAs and other flash points in the state

2. The Nigerian Police deployed 2 police surveillance helicopters, 5 armored personnel carriers, 3 police mobile force units, 2 ounter terrorism cells, and police intelligence unit and conventional police personnel from other states, to the affected areas following the two-day violent attacks in Plateau state

3. The N10 billion fund approved recently by President Muhammadu Buhari for rehabilitation of farms and farming ommunities in Benue and Nasarawa state will also be available in Plateau state.

4. The Nigerian military has deployed additional special forces to support operation safe heaven in Plateau state

5. On June 25, 2018, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo visited Plateau state. He held meetings with community leaders and condoled the people

6. On June 26, 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari visited Plateau state. He assured that the federal government will work hard to ensure a lasting resolution to the crisis.

7. On June 27, 2018, President Buhari met with the Senate president Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara at the State House on the seccurity situation in Plateau state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Professor Wole Soyinka has written a long article addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari on the renewed killing in Jos, Plateau state saying he has failed to communicate with the herdsmen properly.

In the article published by Sahara Reporters on Wednesday, June 27, the Nobel Laureate noted that the killings have been going on for a while.

The Nobel Laureate claimed that for every cow killed, it seems there is a plan to take a human life and called on the government to take charge of the situation. He said it was the right of every community to be able to defend themselves especially when their lives and properties were threatened.
