Police arrest 32-year-old fake soldier in Ogun state

- A suspect wearing military camouflage and terrorising Ogun community is arrested by police

- The state commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu, orders the suspect to be transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution

The Ogun state police command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Abdul-Azeez Haruna, for allegedly impersonating a military officer.

The spokesperson for the command Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Tuesday, June 26, said the suspect was arrested while in full military camouflage terrorising people in the area, Guardian reports.

Oyeyemi said based on suspicion, the impersonator was challenged and held by people in the community who then alerted the police about the suspect.

The command said after a thorough investigation, the suspect confessed that he was not a soldier and that he was just “faking” to by an army official.

Based on his reported confession, the state commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu, ordered the suspect to be transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, June 27, said President Muhammadu Buhari was planning a reorganisation of the nation’s security architecture to address ongoing security challenges in parts of the country.

NAIJ.com gathered that Dogara said this in an interview with State House correspondents after a meeting he and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja over the killings in Plateau state.
