Herdsmen attacks: Benue youths pledge support for Buhari, hail Buratai

- Benue youths have pledged to support all efforts made by President Muhammadu Buhari

- The youths debunked claims that the president is allegdly sponsoring killings in Benue

- They also commended the chief of Army staff for his effort in ending killings in the state

The youths in Benue have exonerated President Muhammdu Buhari from all killings in the state.

The Benue Youths Forum, the umbrella body of all youth groups in Benue state said claims in some quarters that President Buhari was sponsoring the attacks in the state is a case of giving the dog a bad name to hang it.

BYF also pledged their total support for the ongoing military operation in the state aimed at ending the fast growing spate of terrorism in the Benue valley.

Commending the efforts of the Nigerian military in ending the killings in the state and other states of the country, the group encouraged the Nigerian Army to intensify efforts to flush out all criminal elements in its environs.

A statement signed by the national president of the group, Terrence Kuanum, said the youth particularly lauded the Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai led Nigerian Army in the manner they have carried out their operation so far which has yielded positive results.

Kuanum said: "We totally support the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari's fight against terrorism and applaud it's accompanying achievements as so recorded in the major arrest at the Benue border.

"We specifically noted that the recent arrest of the confessed killer of Governor Ortom's aide which has been an issue of worry to the state and the breaking of prominent robbery and kidnap rings in the region were worthy of commendation.

"We will always support their noble efforts to reinstate peace in the nation and Benue in particular. It is our earnest belief that this recent military campaign will bring lasting peace to the Benue valley."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Buhari has been endorsed for a second term in office, by the Southern Youth Leaders Forum.

The group also passed a vote-of-confidence on Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, and recommended the Army chief and other service chiefs for a special national honour by the federal government.
