Benue youths back controversial anti-grazing bill

- Youths in Benue under the platform of the Terver Support Group for Ortom have vowed to support the state governor in the implementation of the anti-grazing bill

- They commended the governor for demonstrating genuine and selfless love for the state by refusing to bow to pressure from external forces

- In response, the governor’s chief press secretary commended the youths for their steadfastness and resilience

The Terver Support Group for Ortom, made up of various youth groups in Benue state, has vowed to stand by Governor Samuel Ortom in order to ensure that the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law is successfully implemented “in the face of intimidation and blackmail.”

The groups made their position public during an interaction with the governor’s chief press secretary, Terver Akase in Makurdi, the Benue sate capital, on Monday, June 18, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the youths commended Ortom’s courage in the face of opposition from people they described as ‘anti Benue forces’.

Speaking for the group, Donald Magashi stated: “Governor Ortom has demonstrated genuine and selfless love for the state by refusing to bow to pressure from external forces bent on enslaving the people of the state."

The spokesman also lauded Akashe for embarking on numerous youth-friendly programmes to promote the governor’s achievements.

In response, Akashe commended the youths for their steadfastness and resilience. He assured them that they would continue to have a special place in the governor’s people-oriented programmes.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Samuel Ortom said that Benue state had lost over N400 billion to herdsmen attacks since 2015.

Ortom said the estimate was gotten from the preliminary report of an assessment on damage caused by the crisis between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
