Air Force boss Sadique Abubakar celebrates Sallah with troops on the frontline

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on Friday, June 15, celebrated Sallah with Nigerian Air Force (NAF) front-line troops serving in Maiduguri.
Spokesperson for NAF, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, disclosed in a statement that Abubakar was accompanied by senior officers from NAF Headquarters, Abuja.
The Air Force chief used the opportunity to attend the commissioning of a newly built multipurpose hall at NAF’s 105 composite group, Maiduguri.

The hall, which was named after late Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Edem, a one-time air officer commanding tactical air command, was commissioned by Senator Duro Faseyi, the chairman of the Senate committee on Air Force.
Also present at the occasion was Bernardette Edem, wife of the late senior NAF officer that was honoured.
During the commissioning of the AVM EE Edem Hall, Senator Faseyi stated that the construction of the hall for use by the frontline troops was another significant achievement by NAF.
He praised the CAS and the rest of the NAF leadership for their unflinching commitment, which he said had resulted in the repositioning of the NAF for better service delivery.
Speaking at the occasion, the CAS said he had come with other senior NAF officers to celebrate the Sallah with the personnel in appreciation of their efforts towards ensuring that Nigerians are secured.

The NAF boss thanked guests, particularly Senator Faseyi and Edem, who came to join in celebrating with the frontline troops, who constantly put their lives on the line to ensure the security of the nation.
He told the troops that the force had made a lot of gains in the efforts to re-professionalize and care fore the welfare needs of personnel.
In another report, Governor Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara state said he had dropped his responsibility as chief security officer of the state as he had no control over security machinery in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Talata-Mafara on Friday, June 15, Yari said that his decision stemmed from the seeming helplessness of the state government and the people over recurring killings in the state.
He deplored the prevailing situation where as the chief security officer of the state, he could not take decisions on strategies for protecting the state and its people, and had it implemented.
