Russia teach their train conductors on how to smile more to visitors

- Russia workers and volunteers undergo training on how to smile more to people

As the World Cup kicked-off in Russia with the opening ceremony followed by their 5-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia, train conductors have also not been left out the party.

According to reports, people do not smile in Russia which gives visitors a wrong perception about the people of the Eastern European country.

However, officials have conducted training to teach train conductors and others on how to smile to tourists showing them the psychological effect it will have on them.

Also, yoga sessions were organized for enthusiasts who want to break the trend of not smiling to people in public places.

Elnara Mustafina, who is a psychologist, said the training was necessary because they want the world to know that Russians are loving people.

However, BBC film director Yulia Melamed said she got into trouble for smiling in public as she shares her ordeal with a policeman.

She said: "I got stopped by a policeman and I was quite angry about it and he asked to show my ID.

"Afterwards 'I asked why did he stop me' and he said to me ' because you were smiling' that's what he said to me literally.

"Because it is strange for a person to walk on the street and smile. It looked alien and suspicious," Yulia explained.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported how the Russian national team dismantled Saudi Arabia in the opening match of the tournament.

Yuri Gazinskiy scored the opener as Denis Cheryshev added another to make it 2-0 before the break.

Artem Dzyuba scored the third in a textbook finish as Chereyshev completed his brace with a delightful chip. Aleksandr Golovin completed the rout for the home side from a set piece to end the match 5-0.
