Court finds former APC governor guilty of fraud
The Federal Capital Territory high court has found former Plateau state governor, Joshua Dariye, guilty of fraud, Premium Times reports.
Legit.ng gathered that the former governor was charged for allegedly diverting N1.162 billion while he served as governor of the North-central state.
Dariye was brought to court on a 23-count charge for the alleged offence by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2007.

Although Kanu Agabi, Dariye’s lawyer, questioned the authenticity of evidence adduced in court against his client, the court said the evidences clearly indicate a case of diversion.
Adebukola Banjoko, the judge, found him guilty of diverting funds to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state among other groups.
Banjoko who was reading the judgement found Dariye guilty of counts 1, 2, 4, and 7. The counts relate to the diversion of N80 million to the PDP, N100 million to a company, Marine flow and other sums.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory in Gudu, Abuja, found a former governor of Taraba state, Jolly Nyame, guilty of six of the 41 counts preferred against him.

They are counts 1, 2, 6, 10, 12 and 14. The former governor who was charged with 41 counts of misappropriating the sum of N1.64bn in 2007 has been found guilty of breach of trust involving his alleged fraudulent approval of N250m for the purchase of stationery and office equipment of December 30, 2004.
