France '98 team reunite to celebrate their World Cup triumph after 20 years
- Zinedine Zidane led his side to their first ever World Cup triumph in 1998

- 20 years after, the stars gathered to celebrate their title at the same venue on Monday, June 11
France won the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history when they hosted the tournament and won in 1998 following their 3-0 victory over Brazil at the final at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
Two superb headers from Zinedine Zidane and one from Emmanuel Petit ensured the Les Blues emerged victorious on the day.
However, the golden generation of the French team that won the World Cup gathered on Monday to celebrate their triumph 20 years after their major achievement in global footballing event.

Ex-internationals like Christian Karembeu, Fabien Barthez, Lionel Charbonnier, Robert Pires, Zinedine Zidane, Youri Djorkaeff, Vincent Candela, Alain Boghossian, Laurent Blanc and Sabri Lamouchi were all in attendance at an event in Saint-Denis to mark the anniversary.
The players posed for pictures with local children in the Paris suburb, after which three-time Champions League winning Real Madrid manager Zidane took the microphone and led the celebrations.
He was in attendance when Rafael Nadal defeated Dominic Thiem to win his 11th French Open title on Sunday before attending his team’s reunion celebration a day after.
Former Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan star Djorkaeff, who also turned out for Bolton and Blackburn on these shores, was also present at the final at Roland-Garros.
Arsenal great Pires was in France after playing for the World XI against England for Soccer Aid at Old Trafford on Sunday night.
Meanwhile Didier Deschamps' side continued their World Cup preparations by training on Monday.
Previously, Legit.ng reported that former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane left his position at the club over disagreement with president Florentino Perez on summer transfer signings that includes the likes of Manchester United’s David De Gea and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
Zidane was alleged to be eager to land the Belgian from the Premier League as he attempt to stage a comeback on the domestic front after playing second fiddle to Barcelona last term.
