Alleged N1.6b ecological fraud: Court decides Dariye’s fate on Tuesday
- A former governor Joshua Dariye will on Tuesday, June 12, face his fate as a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory deliver judgment in the alleged N1.162bn fraud trial against him
- He was charged by the EFCC, in a 21-count count for allegedly diverting the state’s Ecological Fund to the tune of N1.16 bn belonging to the state to a private companies
- The judgment will be delivered by Justice Adebukola Banjoko, who had earlier sentenced and convicted the former governor of Taraba stateJolly Nyame to 14 years imprisonment

A Federal Capital Territory High Court will on Tuesday, June 12, deliver judgement in an alleged case of fraud brought against
Premium Times reports that the prosecution, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, arraigned the defendant on a 21-count for the alleged offence shortly after the expiration of his tenure in May 2007.

The anti-graft agency said Dariye used his office to siphon money out of the country, through various accounts.
Dariye who had secured an order for the suspension of his trial at the lower court, also proceeded to the Supreme Court with his appeal.
He was, however, made to continue the trial following an order of the apex court in 2015, after stalling the case for over seven years.

The former governor controversially employed the services of a former Attorney General of the federation, Kanu Agabi, who headed the justice ministry when the charge against the defendant was first brought.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory in Gudu, Abuja, found a former governor of Taraba state, Jolly Nyame, guilty of six of the 41 counts preferred against him.
They are counts 1, 2, 6, 10, 12 and 14.
The former governor who was charged with 41 counts of misappropriating the sum of N1.64bn in 2007 has been found guilty of breach of trust involving his alleged fraudulent approval of N250m for the purchase of stationery and office equipment of December 30, 2004.
