Foremost lawyer and human rights campaigner, Femi Falana (SAN), has asked former president Olusegun Obasanjo not to be worried about anything.
Legit.ng gathered that Falana, while reacting to the recent allegation by the elder statesman against the federal government during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, assured the former president to remain calm as the human rights community would ensure he gets justice.
Falana, on his part, said: “General Obasanjo has nothing to worry about, we will ensure that his rights are not violated. We are going to adopt the same attitude when he and the late General (Shehu) Yar’Adua and others were tried illegally and sentenced to death.”

However, the senior advocate, said he cannot give such assurance if there are grounds to arrest the former president to account for his own actions.
The human rights lawyer noted that in the case of economic and financial crimes, there is no way they can prevent the government from carrying out its investigation.
He insisted that while Obasanjo had stated that he was ready for a probe, the human rights community would ensure that his rights are not violated within the ambit of the law.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, alleged that there is a plot by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to detain him indefinitely based on false charges.
Premium Times reports that Obasanjo in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Friday, June 8, claimed that the government was planning to use fake documents and witnesses against him.
The former president said the plot against him would unfold in two stages among which is to cause the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reopen investigation into the activities of his administration.
