Obasanjo cannot bear the idea of Moshood Abiola - MKO's daughter
- Tundun Abiola claims former president Olusegun Obasanjo was planted by the military to appease Nigeria in 1999
- The late MKO Abiola's daughter said Obasanjo was appointed as Nigerian president by the military and not elected as believed
As the preparation to honour the late MKO Abiola and recognise the upturned June 12 presidential election continues, Tundun Abiola, the late MKO's daughter has taken a swipe at former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
Tundun, during a Channels TV programme titled Rubin Mind, said Obasanjo was not elected in the 1999 election but rather he was appointed by the military to appease Nigerians who wanted democracy government.
She said: “Obasanjo was appointed the president, he was not elected president. We did not have any election in 1999, we had a coronation."

She claimed that Obasanjo could not afford to offend the military leaders who put him into power, hence, his refusal to recognise the June 12 election and confer the GCFR award on the late Abiola.
“When you know you were not elected, you know you were selected and just appointed president by the military, it is galling for him to have acknowledged a democratic process.
“President Obasanjo and my father had a relationship then; so what happened in their lifetime continued even after my father was dead. He cannot bear the idea of Moshood Abiola – so he did not do it,” she added.
