Nigerian soldier battles robbers in Benue, recover weapon
- The robbers attacked a vehicles in which the soldier was travelling
- The incident happened along the Lafia-Makurdi road in Benue
- The Nigerian Army says it will continue to protect the lives of the citizens
Luck ran out on an armed robber as personnel of the Nigerian Army attached to the 120 battalion in Gonori, Yobe state and who are currently on operation Lafiya Dole successfully disarmed him along the Lafia-Makurdi road, the security body has said.
A statement by Brigadier General, the director of Army public relations, said the incident happened at Daudu in Guma local government area of Benue state in the early hours of Wednesday, June 6, when the vehicle in which the soldier was travelling was attacked by a group of armed robbers.

“However, the soldier sustained an injury during the process but was able to dispossessed the robber of a AK47 rifle and five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
“The soldier is currently receiving medical attention at the military facility in Makurdi.
"The Nigerian Army wishes to assured all law abiding citizens of continuous protection of lives and property and enjoined all to be security conscious,” the statement said.
Legit.ng earlier reported that troops of Operation Lafiya Dole within 7 Division Area of Responsibility have benefited from the benevolence of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai.
The troops have been rewarded with special promotion for for actively participating in Operation Deep Punch II, and they were decorated with their new ranks recently.
The decoration of the troops was conducted by their commanders in Bama, Chibok, Damboa, Dikwa, Gwoza, Konduga and Maiduguri respectively.
