Nigerians blasts PDP for criticising President Buhari’s posthumous GCFR award to Abiola

President Muhammadu Buhari’s posthumous Grant Commander of the Federal Republic award to the late Chief MKO Abiola elicited criticism from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP in a statement on Wednesday, June 6, described the president’s move as political.

The party wrote: "The national honour proposed to be conferred on the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993, Chief MKO Abiola, by the failed President Muhammadu @MBuhari, smacks of hypocrisy and political desperation ahead of 2019 presidential election."

Nigerians took to social media to criticise the party saying it had the opportunity to do so in 16 years but failed.

Kudos to Buhari for doing what PDP failed to do in 16 years.

Buhari has given PDP a technical knockout.

PDP should just keep quiet.

PDP had the opportunity for 16 years but failed to honour Abiola.

Some people asked the party not to handle it as a political move but congratulate the nation.
