DSS reduces operatives assigned to Dogara, Lasun
- Security operatives attached to the speaker of the House of Representatives and his deputy have been reduced
- The operatives were withdrawn by the Department of State Services
- According to sources, 15 operatives from the two presiding officers were taken away
The Department of State Services has reduced the number of personnel attached to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and his deputy, Yusuff Lasun.
Punch reports that the secret police operatives attached to the two presiding officers of the House of Representatives were reduced last week.
Confirming the DSS action, the chairman of the House committee on media and public affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas, however, said it was not a total withdrawal of the operatives.

Namdas said: “Yes, the development we have is that they have reduced the speaker’s DSS operatives. They also reduced the operatives attached to the deputy speaker. They have not offered any explanations for this action," Namdas said.
Although he did not give the exact number of DSS personnel withdrawn, it was gathered that 10 operatives were withdrawn from Dogara, while five were withdrawn from Lasun.
A source within the House said: “In all, they took away 15 operatives from the two presiding officers."

It was also gathered that the DSS operatives attached to the Senate president Bukola Saraki was reduced.
The source said: “It is true. They were reduced tremendously but I don’t have more details yet."
The DSS could not be reached to react to the alleged withdrawal as it does not have a spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Senate president had promised to honour an invitation by the police over allegation levelled against him by suspects of the Offa robbery attack in Kwara state.

Saraki while denying the allegation urged the public to disregard the claim as a baseless allegation and another ploy by the Police to implicate him by all means.
He said he was the first top official to pay a visit to the place and right there in the palace of the traditional ruler, he put a call through to the inspector general of police on the matter.
