Fayose reacts to shooting at APC rally, blames Fayemi

- Victims of the shooting at the APC rally in Ekiti state are receiving treatment

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has reacted to the shooting during the takeoff campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi.

Fayose toom to Twitter to sympathise with the victims of the shooting who are receiving treatment at the State University Teaching Hospital. He said he had directed adequate treatment of the injured ones.

He also claimed the desperation of Fayemi to become governor of the state was responsible for the mayhem.

"Fayemi is having in all these challenges because of his desperation. It is instructive that there was chaos at the APC primary election and his return to Ekiti today brought bloodshed to a once peaceful Ekiti State.Those whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad.

"I sympathize with victims of today's shootings by armed policemen that Fayemi and his APC invaded our State with and I have directed adequate treatment of the injured ones that are receiving treatment at the State University Teaching Hospital," the governor stated.

Legit.ng had reported that Fayemi narrowly escaped being killed by an unknown gunman as he was being received by party men at the APC secretariat. The incident which was described as an accidental discharge, occurred on Friday, June 1, during the takeoff his campaign ahead of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state.

The gunshots were said to have emanated from the gun of an unknown gunman kitted fully in Mopol uniform at the APC Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.
