Dino Melaye has right of association and we wish him goodluck - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that Senator Dino Melaye has not formally informed the party of his alleged defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nigerian Tribune reports that Bolaji ABdullahi who is the spokesperson of the party spoke on Wednesday, May 30, concerning the alleged defection.

Abdullahi said the Kogi senator has the right to association and that he wishes him goodluck.
He said: “Well, to the best of my knowledge he did not inform the party. I don’t want to speculate on the reason for his decision.
“We would wish Senator Dino Melaye had stayed to allow the ongoing reconciliation efforts to progress, but we respect his right of association and wish him goodluck.
“I am also aware that for it to qualify as defection he has to formally notify the Senate president, which as far as I know, he has not done."

Legit.ng had reported that Melaye, the embattled senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, on Wednesday, May 30, gave a hint of a defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Melaye, who is currently having a running battle with the police, gave the hint of his defection on the floor of the Senate.
The hint came after the senator raised a point of order (14) at the sitting where he thanked his colleagues, members of the House of Representatives, his constituents and Nigerians for standing by him during his travails.
