Insecurity: Senate to grill police, DSS, military chiefs on Wednesday, May 23

- All service chiefs are expected to appear before the Senate on Wednesday, May 23

- Also, the director general of the Department of State Services and heads of other security agencies will be at the briefing

- The Senate president said the meeting will take place by 11am

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, May 22, said it will grill all the service chiefs and the director general of the Department of State Security (DSS) over the insecirty in Nigeria.

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, said the service chief will appear before the Senate on Wednesday, May 23, by 11am.

Speaking before adjourning Tuesday's plenary, Saraki urged all senators to be prepared for the briefing by the service chiefs. He called for attendance by all the senators of the eight Senate.

"Let me remind you that tomorrow, we are expecting all the service chiefs and heads of security agencies following our resolution of last week…for 11 am. Please ensure attendance. All service chiefs and heads of all the security agencies. That includes the DSS, IG and others," Saraki told the senators.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari met with the leadership of the Senate over the rift between the Saraki and the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris.

President Buhari assured that appropriate action will be taken by the presidency to end the crisis.

The meeting with the president followed an alarm raised by Saraki which accused the IGP of trying to frame him after some arrested cultists in Kwara state were transferred to Abuja.
