Prominent PDP members visit Senator Jang in prison

- PDP chiefs have visited Senator Jonah Jang remanded in prison over alleged misappropriation of N6.3 billion

- Those who visited Jang include former vice president Atiku Abubakar and Jerry Gana

Prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, May 20, visited the embattled former governor of Plateau state and senator representing Plateau North senatorial district, Jonah Jang, in Jos prison.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that Jang was remanded in prison after his arraignment at Kogi state high court on May 16 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The senator is facing a twelve count charge over alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion during the last leg of his tenure as governor of Plateau state.

Punch reports that those who visited Jang in prison include former vice president Atiku Abubakar, a former minister of information and orientation Prof. Jerry Gana and Chief Chris Giwa.

Others include a serving senator from the south-south and his colleagues in the National Assembly and other prominent PDP members.

In similar news, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Governor of Plateau state Simon Lalong has denied that he was witch-hunting his predecessor Jonah Jang, who is currently in jail for alleged corruption.

Lalong said rather than witch-hunting, his setting the EFCC on Jang was to enable him get back the state's funds which were allegedly looted by the ex-governor-turned-senator.
