Birnin Gwari: Again, armed bandits attack 4 villages, burn houses

- Gunmen have for the second time attacked Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna state

- Four different villages were said to been sacked by some armed bandits on Tuesday, May 15, by 5 pm

- Residents said 10 bodies of victims have bee recovered after the attack in the villages

Some gunmen have attacked four villages in Kakangi ward in Birnin Gwari local government in Kaduna state.

The attack by the armed bandits came a day after the lawmaker representing Birnin-Gwari /Giwa federal constituency, Hassan Shekarau, called for an end in the killing in the area.

A statement released by the Birnin-Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance said the bandits attacked the villages at about 5pm on Tuesday, May 15. The group said the attack by the hoodlums lasted for three and half hours.

Among villages attacked include: Mashigi, Dakwaro, Sabon gida and one other village adjacent Dakwaro.

A member of the group, Malam Umar, said ten bodies of victims of the attack have been recovered.

Umar said: "Ten bodies of people killed were recovered, while many are unaccounted for."

He added that the hoodlums burnt houses and grains stock owned by resident of the villages that were attacked.

Umar said: "Already volunteers from the southern axis of Birnin-Gwari and Security men were mobilized to ascertain the number of casualties."

Another resident of one of the villages said: "The affected villages are in need of aid, such as food, shelter and clothes.

"Despite this attacks and Kidnappings daily along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, we are saluting the Federal government and security agencies for deployment of personnel to deal with the situation in Birnin-Gwari. We hope more troops and special police task force will be deployed."

Legit.ng earlier reported that the chief of Army staff, Tukur Buratai, had warned that the incessant killings in Birnin Gwari must come to an end.

Buratai called on the troops to end the killings and destruction of property in the local government by armed bandits within three weeks.

The army chief said very resounding results that will bring these criminals to their knees finally are being expected fro the troops.
