Boko Haram bomber reportedly attacks checkpoint, 5 civilian JTF allegedly killed

- Boko Haram terrorist attacked a checkpoint in Borno

- The terrorist and five other people were reportedly killed in the attack

Five people, including the head of the Civiliant Joint Task Force (CJTF) in the town have reportedly been killed after a Boko Haram bomber attacked a military checkpoint in Konduga, Borno.

According to Sahara Reporters, the incident happened on Tuesday, May 15, in the afternoon.

A source said: “It was sad news for us today; the Chairman of vigilante in Konduga and two members were killed by an agent of Satan. Tsoho, as popularly called by soldiers, has helped in fight against Boko haram. It was great loss to us.”

Bashir Idris Garga who is the coordinator of NEMA also confirmed the attack in a text message.

He said: "Suicide bomb blast in Madarari, Konduga, a checkpoint before entering Konduga. Casualty 5 CJTF killed and scores injured."

The Nation also reports that the commissioner of police in Borno state, Damian Chukwu, also confirmed the attack.

He said: “Be informed that at about 13:30 hrs date, a male suicide bomber detonated IED on his body near an Airtel mast in Mandarari village, Konduga LGA, killing self & four (4) Civilian JTF operatives while five (5) other persons injured. EOD/other Police teams deployed to sanitize scene & environs. Corpses and injured persons evacuated to hospital."

Meanwhile, an aged man was rescued by a brave soldier during a gunfight between troops of the Nigerian Army and Boko Haram terrorists.

This was contained in a statement by Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu on Monday, May 14.

The incident happened in Gobara village in Borno state where a platoon commander of the 192 Battalion, Lieutenant Asajwun Ahmadu, reportedly carried the old man on his shoulder in rescue.

Two terrorists were killed while their weapons were recovered.
