Suspected herdsmen kill 10 in 2 Kogi communities
- Suspected herdsmen numbering over fifty stormed two villages in Kogi state on Monday, May 14, morning
- The armed men reportedly killed 10 people and left several injured during the attack
- Goods worth several millions of naira were also reportedly destroyed
Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed ten people and wounded several others during an early morning attack on two Tiv settlements in Ijumu local government area and Mopamuro of Kogi state on Monday, May, 14.
One of the communities affected is in Ilai, the outskirts of Mopamuro, and the other in Ido-Gbede, according to a report by This Day.
The herdsmen, numbering over 50, invaded the two communities, brandishing AK47 rifles and destroying goods worth several millions of naira.

The local government administrator of Mopamuro LGA, Honourable Moses Sunday David, said the attack came barely a week after the community had a peace and security meeting at the Elulu’s palace to forestall such unfortunate occurrence.
He said: “We shall work with the security agencies to see that we rejig security architecture to ensure that people and properties are safe."
The police PRO of the state police command, William Ayah, when contacted on the attack, however, said he was not aware of the attack on the two communities.

Meanwhile, the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has once again reiterated his accusation that the leadership of the herdsmen group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, are responsible for the incessant killings of farmers and villagers in the state.
Legit.ng gathers that Ortom made this statement while fielding questions from journalists on his return from China after a two-week leave.
The governor said he has instituted criminal proceedings against the leaders of Miyetti Allah at the high court in Makurdi and they would be charged with the murder of the 73 victims killed on New Year in the state.
