Adamawa bomb attacks: FG orders security beefed up around markets and places of worship

The federal government has expressed shock and outrage over the bomb attacks on a mosque and a market in Mubi, Adamawa state, on Tuesday, May 1, saying, “the desecration of a place of worship by criminals is tragic and condemnable.”
According to a statement sent to Legit.ng by the vice president's spokesman, Laolu Akande, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, expresses the federal government's condolences to the victims and their families, and to the government and people of Adamawa state on the incident.

“The vice president has been in touch with the state governor Bindow Umaru Jibrilla, and has also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure the speedy and adequate provision of medical supplies and relief materials to the victims.
“He also expresses the gratitude of the federal government to the rescue workers and medical personnel who attended to the victims.
“Security agencies have been directed to immediately take steps to beef up security in Mubi and environs, especially markets and places of worship. The agencies are also working to apprehend the criminals behind this act and bring them to justice,” the statement read.

Osinbajo had declared that the government will not allow miscreants to stoke up a religious conflict by making it impossible for anyone to preach the gospel or even for Muslims to worship in their mosques.
He stated this at the inauguration of the headquarters building and auditorium of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Gbagada, Lagos on Tuesday, April 24.
“It is not only a heinous sacrilege but high wickedness to kill persons in a place of worship. It is evident that the devil’s bigger agenda is to stoke up a religious conflict in Nigeria, one such as will make it impossible for anyone to preach the gospel or even for Muslims to worship in their mosques," Osinbajo said.
