Exercise Ayem Akpatuma: Troops neutralize bandits, recover arms

Troops deployed in Exercise Ayem Akpatuma while on patrol along Dogon Dawa-Damari road in Kaduna state have killed two suspected criminals.

The troops also recovered two AK 47 rifles, three magazines and 88 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a statement by Nigerian Army spokesman, Brigadier-General Texas Chukwu, revealed.

Also, troops deployed along Rigasa-Airport road also in Kaduna state on Sunday, April 2, ran into an ambush by suspected bandits. Two soldiers were wounded in the encounter and are presently receiving treatment.

Similarly, troops successfully repelled an attack by another suspected bandits in Buruku, Benue state.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has announced that Exercise Ayem Akpatuma will be extended for two months in Taraba state.

This was disclosed in a statement sent to Legit.ng by the director army public relations, Brigadier-General Texas Chukwu, on Monday, April 2.

According to the statement, the exercise needs to be sustained in some areas in other to consolidate on the initial gains.
