Nigerian Air Force alerts Nigerians on fake Facebook accounts linked to CAS, DOPRI
- Some unscrupulous elements are out to defame the name of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF)
- Their fraudulent activities include opening fake Facebook accounts in the name of key NAF officials
- The NAF has warned Nigerians to be wary of such social media accounts
The Nigerian Air Force has raised an alarm over the activities of fraudsters who have created fake official Facebook accounts purportedly belonging to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya.
According to the a statement sent to Legit.ng by AVM Adesanya, the aim is to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public with false information claiming such to come from the NAF.

“It must be stated that neither the CAS nor the NAF spokesman has any official Facebook account or pages bearing their pictures in uniform or indicating their ranks.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard any request for friendship or information arising from any Facebook account or page, with the CAS or NAF spokesman in uniform or indicating their ranks.
“Public inquiries about the NAF should be addressed to info@airforce.mil.ng. Besides, members of the public are free to walk into any NAF Public Relations Office at any time for inquiries," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the innovativeness and achievements of the NAF in the area of Research and Development (R&D) were on display at the just concluded Technology and Innovation Expo 2018.
The NAF, which was invited by the Ministry of Science and Technology to the 5-day exhibition, had on display various innovative products such as the Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), Air Marshal SB Abubakar Aviation Power Pack and Hydraulic Diaphragm for the Mi-Series Helicopter.
