Breaking: Few hours after leaving Nigeria, Trump fires Secretary of State Rex Tillerson
President Donald Trump has announced his decision to remove Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and replace him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.
President Trump announced his decision via Twitter on Tuesday, March 13.
His tweet: “Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!”

Gina Haspel will become the first woman director of the CIA, Trump said. Both she and Pompeo will have to be confirmed by the Senate.
Legit.ng previously reported that Tillerson cut short his trip to Africa by about a day to deal with pressing matters in the United States.
Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Steve Goldstein, said that Tillerson would end his trip early to deal with work that needs to be attended to in Washington, D.C.
