Some governors, others working against Buhari’s second term - APC chieftain

- The reconciliatory move by Bola Tinubu may not achieve the desired result, according to Perekeme Kpodoh

- Kpodoh alleges that some governors and politicians are behind the plot to frustrate the reconciliation and President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term

- He wants the president to be mindful of those pretending to love him but supporting the tenure extension of John Odigie-Oyegun as APC national chairman

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former security adviser to the Bayelsa state government, Perekeme Kpodoh, has accused some governors and politicians in the party of working against the second tenure of President Muhammad Buhari.

Kpodoh said this while noting a reluctance to allow the reconciliation committee of the APC led by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to resolve crises within the party.

According to Kpodoh, those working against the second term ambition of PMB are reportedly involved in the tenure extension handed to the party’s national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, the refusal of the political organisation to hold a national convention and promotion of crises in state chapters of the party.

Kpodoh, who spoke from Bayelsa state, said though these accused anti-PMB elements nearly killed the effort of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu committee with the tenure extension handed Chief John Oyegun, President Muhammad Buhari should monitor these governor's and party leaders with a view to “sanctioning them against the plot to scuttle Asiwaju Bola Tinubu effort.

“We want the president to know that recent events have shown that some governors and politicians within the party are working against his second tenure. The anti-PMB elements betrayed their evil intentions with the refusal to support reforms including the removal of Chief John Oyegun and the holding of a special convention.

“These governors with their puppet state executives of the party displayed their might and sent a clear threat to the progressives within the APC and Muhammad Buhari that they can make or mar the deserved second term of the president.

“On one hand they are mounting pressure on PMB to declare for second tenure and on the other hand they are working against what Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is doing to reconcile the party ahead of the 2019 polls.”

According to Kpodoh, these alleged anti-APC elements must shun their selfish interests and support the reconciliation moves initiated by President Buhari through the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu committee.

“They should know that the platform known as APC was a marriage entered into among political elements such as the CPC, New PDP.

The APC chieftain argued that majority of those seeking the removal of Oyegun are die-hard supporters of President Muhammad Buhari.

“They love the party and believe that the promises made in 2015 have been achieved. But they are worried about the dismal show of support by the national leadership of the party led by Chief Oyegun,” he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Perekeme Kpodoh recently expressed confidence in the ability Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to resolve the raging conflict and division within the party, saying the success of the reconciliation committee may determine the fate of the party in the 2019 general elections.
