FIFA World Cup finally lands in Nigeria for a 4-day tour
- The most coveted prize in the world of football, the FIFA World Cup has landed in Nigeria
- The title will be paraded in two cities in the country - Lagos and Abuja within four days
- Meanwhile, Nigeria will kickoff their campaign in this year's edition of the championship against Croatia on June 16
FIFA World Cup trophy has finally arrived Nigeria for a four-day trophy-tour to two cities – Abuja and Lagos between March 7 and 10, 2018.
The most coveted prize in football landed in the country in a fully branded Coca Cola aircraft on Wednesday afternoon after making a quick two-day stop in Uganda.

According to the organisers of the event, the prestigious silverware in football will be flown to Abuja for the first two days, where it will be presented to the president, Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet at the presidential villa.

Before making its way to the Transcorp Hilton Hotel for a press conference, and later be paraded for the Federal Capital Territory residents the same day.

The iconic prize of world football will is expected back in Lagos on Friday morning, March 9, where Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the members of his cabinet will be waiting to have a feel of the title, while the Amaju Pinnick and Seyi Akinwunmi would be on ground to moderate proceedings.

After leaving the country on Saturday, March 10, it will be taken to Dakar, Senegal, and it is expected to stay two days in the country.

With the line-up of events by the organisers, the trophy still has 29 more countries to visit in less than 100 days to the kickoff of the 2018 edition of the tournament staging in Russia this summer.

The World Cup trophy left Russia earlier in January and it is expected to visit the Asian continent last before finally returning to the host country.
Nigeria are one of the 64 countries that will be participating in this year’s edition of the championship – having made their debut appearance in 1994.

They are drawn in the same group alongside Croatia, Iceland and Argentina, as they will be playing their first game against Croatia on June 16.
