Nigeria consists of 36 states, every state has its own name, capital, and slogan. State slogans in Nigeria represent the main idea of the state, its spirit, and main feature.
States of the country
The process of state creation started in 1967 and continued to 1996. The division into states affected the political structure of the country. Each state has its own governor, legislature and judiciary.

States in Nigeria, their capitals and slogans
1. Abia State
Umuahia city is the capital, but the major commercial city of the state is Aba. “God’s Own State”- this is the slogan of the state. This Niger Delta state is young, it was formed in 1991.
2. Adamawa State
A state at the northeast of the country, Yola city is the capital. “Land of Beauty, Hospitality, and Sunshine” this is the slogan.
3. Akwa Ibom State
The capital of this southern coastal state is Uyo city, and its state slogan is “Promised Land.” The state was established in 1987.
4. Anambra State
The capital is Awka city, “Home For All” this is the slogan. The name of the state is rooted in the name "Oma Mbala", this is the name of Anambra River in the Igbo language.
5. Bauchi State
Bauchi city is the capital, there are 55 tribal groups in this state. “Pearl of Tourism” it is the slogan. The state was established in 1976.
6. Bayelsa State
Yenagoa city is a capital of this southern state. It was formed in 1996. “Glory of all Lands” this is the slogan of the state.
7. Benue State
A so-called middle belt state with the capital in Makurdi city, “Nigeria’s Food Basket” this is the slogan. The stare was formed in 1976 and named after the local river.

Maiduguri city is the capital and the slogan is “Home of Peace”

A southern state with the capital Calabar city. The year of creation is 1976. “The Nation’s Paradise” this is the slogan.
10. Delta State
Asaba city is the capital of this state. This big state was formed in 1991. “The Big Heart” this is how it is called in the slogan.
11. Ebonyi State
A southeastern state with the capital in Abakaliki city. It is one of the states that were created in 1996. The slogan called it “Salt of the Nation”.
12. Edo State
Benin city is the capital of the state, the slogan describes the state as “The Heartbeat of the Nation.” The population of this state is 8 million people.
13. Ekiti State
This is a state in the western part of the country with the capital in Ado-Ekiti city. The state was formed in 1996. Slogan - “Fountain of Knowledge.”
14. Enugu State
“Coal City State” as it is called in the slogan, a southeastern state, the capital city is Enugu.
15. Gombe State
A northeastern state with the capital in Gombe city, the slogan calls it “Jewel in the Savannah”.
16. Imo State
It is situated in South East part of the country, the largest city and capital is Owerri city. “The Eastern Heartland” this is the slogan. It was established in 1976.
17. Jigawa State
The capital is Dutse city, and the motto phrase of the state is “The New World”. The year of creation is 1991.
18. Kaduna State
A Northwestern state with the capital in Kaduna city, it is called “Centre of Education”
19. Kano State
The capital is Kano city and slogan phrase of the state is “Centre of Commerce.” It was created in 1967.
20. Katsina State
The capital is Katsina city, and its slogan is “Home of Hospitality.”
21. Kebbi State
The north-western state with the capital in Birnin Kebbi city, the slogan is “Land of Equity.” The state was created in 1991.
22. Kogi State
The state was created in 1991 in the central region with the capital in Lokoja city. The slogan is “The Influence State.”
23. Kwara State
The state on the west of the country, that was created in 1967. Its capital Ilorin city and the slogan phrase is “The Place of Harmony.”
24. Lagos State
It is the smallest state of the country. Ikeja city is the capital and its slogan is “Centre of Excellence.”
25. Nasarawa State
The capital city is Lafia, the state was established in 1996. The slogan of the state is “Nigeria’s Home of Solid Minerals.”
26. Niger State
It is situated in central part of the country. The capital is Minna city and it is called “The Power State.”
27. Ogun State
“Gateway State” has it's capital in Abeokuta.
28. Ondo State
“Sunshine State” as it is called in slogan, its capital city is Akure.
29. Osun State
The state was established in 1976. Its capital city is Osogbo. “State of the Living Spring,” is the slogan.
30. Oyo State
“Pace Setter” this is the slogan of the state. The year of creation is 1976, the capital is Ibadan city.
31. Plateau State
This state is among the largest states. The capital is Jos city and “Home of Peace & Tourism” is the slogan.
32. Rivers State
It was formed in 1967. “Treasure Base” this is the slogan and the capital is Port Harcourt city.
33. Sokoto State
Sokoto is a capital city, the year of creation is 1976. The slogan of the state is “The Seat of the Caliphate.”
34. Taraba State
“Nature’s Gift to the Nation” this is the slogan of the state. It was established in 1991. The capital is Jalingo city.
35. Yobe State
“The Young Shall Grow” this is the slogan of the state, it was created in 1991, it's capital is Damaturu.
36. Zamfara State
It was established in 1996 in the northwestern part of the country. “Home of Agricultural Products” - this is the slogan, Gusau city is the capital of the state.
