I will fight 'criminals in power' at all levels - Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye on Tuesday, February 13, vowed to fight those whom he referred to as “criminals in power”, at both levels of the government, until sanity is restored to the polity.
Legit.ng gathered that the Senate committee chairman on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on the floor of the upper chamber cited order 14 and spoke on the publication made by Sahara Reporters, The Nation and The Sun for the misinformation by the police that a case has been instituted between the federal government and himself.

It was earlier reported that the federal government was arraigning Melaye on a two-count charge of false information.
The first count charge filed against him, accused Melaye of deliberately giving false information to the police to frame the Chief of Staff to Bello, Edward David, as the mastermind of the assassination attempt on him at his hometown in Ayetoro-Gbede, Kogi state.
The second count, Melaye was accused of making false statement of facts in a phone conversation with Mohammed Abubakar, a son to the late former governor of Kogi state, Abubakar Audu, with the intention of harming the reputation of David.
On his part, Senate president Bukola Sraki said the the Senate will continue to defend Nigeria’s democracy.
In a previous report by Legit.ng, Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi East senatorial district, accused the federal government of plotting to frame him for a crime he didn't commit in a bid to shut him up and prevent him from criticising the government.
Melaye, on his Twitter page accused the federal government of conniving with the police and the minister of justice to accuse him of lying about his assassination attempt in 2017.

The Kogi state senator in a couple of tweet, said: "The same police who paraded the assassins, their weapons, the car they used, have confessional statements of suspects ,ask me who are my suspects now colluding with minister of justice to arraign me for misinformation over a case that is in court where the court have accepted the statements of suspects as exhibits.
