For the past few years, Nigerian actress Toyin Aimakhu (Abraham) has often been in the news for the entirely wrong reasons. The whole country watched as Toyin Aimakhu marriage to Adeniyi Johnson quickly fell apart. What happened between them? Who was at fault? What happened to Toyin Aimakhu’s marriage?
In 2012, Toyin Aimakhu met Adeniyi Johnson on set of one of her movies. The romance sparked instantly between them, and the two started dating. A year later, Adeniyi Johnson became Toyin Aimakhu husband. They had their wedding in July 2013, and everything looked perfect.
Not long after, the marriage began to show some cracks. At the wake of 2015, Toyin accused Adeniyi of cheating and temporarily left him. By then, they had only been married for a year and a half. The break-up did not last long, though, as a few months later, she was back, claiming that everything was back to normal.
To prove that things were much better between them, Toyin took to her Instagram to profess her undying love for her husband, no matter what. She even posted some photos of them together being all lovey-dovey as to prove that things were fine between them.
But things were definitely not fine, as the two separated once more, and this time it was for good. Again, the reason why Toyin left Niyi was the fact that Johnson cheated once more. While the first time it happened, there was no solid proof of it, this time around Toyin has allegedly caught her husband in the act.
After that, Adeniyi has made attempts to bring his estranged wife back. He even admitted to cheating on his social media, but Toyin was not having it. Her decision to leave her cheating husband seemed to be set in stone, and this time, there was no turning back.
Since then, Toyin Aimakhu became Toyin Abraham (even though people still use her old last name). Many media outlets speculated that it was because she got married. However, the actress publicly came out to say that the last name change was merely her attempt to try and turn a new leaf in her life.
So why did it all fall apart?

Well, the main reason is, of course, the cheating. People rarely forgive their partners for cheating on them, and Toyin is no different. The hurt was too much to bear for her, so she decided to call it quits on this marriage.
That said, the Internet is full of other theories as to why things did not work out between the two. Most of the theories focus on the underlying factors. For instance, some believe that one of the main reason for the collapse of the marriage between Toyin and Niyi was that they engaged in intimacy before actually getting married. People think that that is why the relationship was doomed to fail from the start.
Others claim that the age difference is at fault here, as Toyin is quite older than her hubby. In the same line, some people believe that the status difference has also played its part. Toyin is a well-known actress with tons of movies under her belt, while Niyi is an up-and-coming actor, whose fame was almost non-existent before the marriage.
However, one theory blows the others out of the park. Pulse reported that Adeniyi had allegedly tried to poison Toyin! Now, there has been no solid proof of this, as Toyin declined to comment on the matter, while Niyi denied all the accusations. Nevertheless, this news shook everyone when it came out.

You might not believe it after all we have just said above, but Toyin Abraham is somehow still legally married to Adeniyi Johnson! At least she was as of September 2017. How could that be? Well, it turns out that it has taken them over two years to sign the divorce papers, and they still have not done it.
The last time the names of these two have appeared in the news together was back in September 2017. Several news outlets reported that Toyin and her lawyer contacted Niyi and his lawyer in an attempt to finally put an end to this marriage. Allegedly, Niyi showed up without his lawyer and refused to decide on anything without legal counsel from said lawyer. After that, nobody heard from him. At least that is what most media outlets (and even Toyin herself) say.
However, if you have been following the misfortunes of this couple for a while now, you would probably not be surprised to know that there is a different side to this story. According to Niyi Johnson, it was he and his lawyer who had to chase the other party.
Niyi shared that the meeting in question was only to try and facilitate reconciliation between the estranged spouses. As such task seemed almost impossible, the parties parted ways before reaching some sort of agreement. Nevertheless, Niyi stated that he never refused to sign the divorce papers and that the holdup was entirely the other party’s fault.
Now, we do not know whether the two actors have managed to get it together and finally sign the divorce papers. The tumultuous story of Toyin Abraham and Adeniyi Johnson’s failed marriage just serves as another proof that money and fame cannot guarantee a happy married life. We hope that they manage to work out their issues and finally put an end to all this.
