Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has paid a condolence visit to Governor Samuel Ortom and the people of Benue state over the clashes between farmers and herdsmen.
Fayose, who is chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, was received by Samuel Ortom, on Thursday, February 8, The Cable reports.

During his visit, the Ekiti state governor offered prayers at the graveside of the 73 persons killed in January by suspected herdsmen.
Fayose’s visit comes 24 hours after that of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state.
Wike, who donated N200 million to persons affected by the crisis, also visited the grave of the victims.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the visits of Governors Nyesom Wike and Ayo Fayose to Benue state as commendable.
The national publicity secretary of the party Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday, February 8, said the visit of the PDP governors to the state was in line with its undying ideology and vision of its founding fathers, The New Telegraph reports.
The PDP accused the presidency and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of turning a blind eye to the sufferings of Benue state.

In another report, The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently mandate security agents to arrest those he referred to as 'blood-thirsty maniacs' who go in the disguise of herdsmen, killing people across the country.
He also vowed to resist any attempt by suspected herdsmen to make Yorubaland become an arena for bloodletting.
In a statement by his special assistant on media, Kehinde Aderemi, the Aare Onakakanfo bitterly decried the number of lives lost to herdsmen attack, Vanguard reports.
The Yoruba generalissimo, who described the recent killing of the officer-in-charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Saki Unit, in Oyo state police command, by herdsmen as, unacceptable, said that the rate of insecurity in Nigeria is a cause for worry.
