Throwback: Meet the very first Big Brother Naija housemates

Popular reality show Big Brother Naija is currently in its third season with housemates like Miracle, Nina, Ahneeka, Princess, Alex, Tobi, Teddy A and K.Brule thrilling fans.

In 2017, Efe, Bisola, TBoss, Uriel, Debbie Rise, ThinTallTony and others held Nigerians spell bound with their antics in the house.

But before them, the likes of Ebuka, Gideon, Katung, Maureen, Sandra, Francisca and others treated Nigerians to a reality show unlike no other in 2006.

Katung Aduwak

Katung was 26 years old when he won the inaugural edition of BBNaija going home with the $100,000 prize money. After the show ended, Katung went to New York to get a directorial degree from the Digital Film Academy, after which he returned to Nigeria. He has directed a number of music videos for Chocolate City, Styl Plus, and Gabriel Afolayan while he also starred in EbonyLife TV’s Desperate Housewives. He is currently the Senior Channel Manager of MTV Base.

Ebuka Obi Uchendu

By far the most popular of all the housemates, Ebuka has carved a niche for himself as an event/TV host and MC. He is also the host of this year’s BBNaija show.

Gideon Okeke

Gideon chose to enter Nollywood after his stint on the show. And so far, it is working for him. One of his biggest roles was on TV series Tinsel.

Francisca Owumi

Known in the house for her dancing skills, Francisca delved into the music industry releasing two singles titled Gbadun You and Diva.

Sandra Osigbovo

Sandy finished fourth in the Big Brother Nigeria House. She is now a certified fitness trainer and Zumba instructor. She is also a fellow of the Institute of Registered Exercise Professionals (IREP).

Maureen Osuji

Several reports say Maureen opted for a career in the corporate world after the show came to an end. She later proceeded to the Fashion Retail Academy in London for a degree in Fashion Buying Merchandising and Management. She is also the creative director and independent buyer at fashion house Aurora Daniels.

A dancer before he entered the house, Frank continued with his chosen profession after BBNaija ended.

Joseph Ada

The oldest of the house mates at 32, Joseph worked as a flight attendant as at the time the show took place. Little is known about his current status.

Ichemeta Ochoga

Ichemeta said she would start her own company if she won the $100,000 prize money. So far, it is not known if she has achieved anything close to that even though she didn’t win.

Nguveren Joan
