Taraba governor swears in two special advisers on herdsmen/farmers relations

- Governor Darius Ishaku has appointed a special adviser on herders relation and another on farmers relations

- The two special advisers were sworn in on Friday, January 26 at the Government House

- The advisers would be charged with the responsibility of ensuring good relationship between farmers and herders in the state

Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku, on Friday, January 26, swore in two special advisers on farmers and herders relations.

The two new special advisers were sworn in at a brief ceremony at at the EXCO chambers of Taraba state Government House, Jalingo, The Punch reports.

The new aides are Abubakar Zubairu, Special Adviser on Herders Relation and Abdulrahman Biyams Adamu, Special Adviser on Farmers Relation.

The governor explained that he too this step so as to ensure smooth implementation of the open grazing prohibition law and representation from both sides (herders and farmers)

He said: “The scale of conflict in the state and indeed the country is on the increase and my administration can not sit and watch this to continue. I charge you to immediately swing into action and visit all areas earmarked for pilot ranches in the state.

“All that you may require for the establishment of the pilot ranches have been provided, so, I urge you to carry out the assignment diligently and without fear or favour."

Legit.ng previously reported that the Oyo state government has decided to proffer a lasting solution to Fulani-herders/farmers’ crises which have become a recurring decimal in the state.

The state police commissioner Abiodun Odude organised a reconciliatory meeting at the police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan where all the stakeholders rubbed minds on the issues.

The head of farmers in Ibarapa local government area of the state, Oyinlola Bolanle explained why the farmers decided to poison their crops to prevent cattle from destroying them.
