NDLEA nabs fake soldier in Jigawa; recovers live ammunition, military camouflage

- A 27-year man was arrested by the Jigawa command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency

- The suspect who gave his name as Abdullahi Ibrahim allegedly had five live ammunition and a set of military camouflage in his possession

- The agency's spokesperson said the suspect was arrested on January 21

The Jigawa command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), said on Thursday, January 25, that it arrested a 27-year-old man with five live ammunition and a set of military camouflage.

Also found on the suspect was a knife, a cellular phone and N1,000, the agency’s spokesman, Mairiga Ya’u, said in a statement in Dutse, NAN reports.

Legit.ng gathered that the suspect who gave his name as Abdullahi Ibrahim, was apprehended on January 21.

The spokesman said: “The suspect, who was arrested by men of the command while on a routine patrol, had no means of identification as military man."

Ya’u said that the suspect indeed admitted to not being a member of the Armed Forces, but attempted to bribe the NDLEA officers with N500,000 to release him.

He added: “Of course, our officers rejected that bait and apprehended him," Ya’u said, adding that the suspect had been transferred to the police for further investigation and necessary action.

In a related development, Legit.ng previously reported that a fake army colonel was apprehended by some military personnel along the Mokwa/Jebba road while he was driving to Jebba from Lagos state.

He was arrested during the inspection visit of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the collapsed Mokwa/Jebba bridge.
