“In our search for a worthy leader, our observation of the Nigerian political space has brought our focus to Gombe state where Dr Dankwambo has raised the bar on leadership," Nzerem said.

The group stated that its support for Dankwambo was anchored on four key pillars- proven performer, public servant with wholesome track record, pragmatic reformer and prudent manager of resources.

The group also informed journalists at the conference that they have commenced mobilization and sensitization of campaign volunteers across the federation for the cause.

Governor Dankwambo's name has been touted severally as one of the contenders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election.

Although the governor is yet to formally indicate his interest in the race, all signs lead to the fact that he may join the race.

Meanwhile, the national deputy chairman of the PDP, Senator Babayo Garba Gamawa, has said the party will be glad to have Governor Dankwambo as its flag bearer in 2019.

Senator Gamawa stated this in reaction to the reported endorsement of the governor by popular Enugu State-based cleric, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka.

According to Gamawa, Governor Dankwambo has what it takes to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019.
