Arewa youths declare support for Igbo presidency in 2019
- Arewa youths held a summit in Imo where they promised to support an Igbo presidency
- They youths said this was for the sake of national unity
- They said they had the support of their Igbo and Afenifere counterpart
Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, Arewa youths have declared support for an Igbo presidency.
The Sun reports that over 10 Arewa youth group declared their support for an Igbo presidency after a youth summit which took place at Arondizuogu, Imo state on Wednesday, January 3.

The northern groups include: Arewa Youth Forum, Arewa Youths Coalition for Peace, Northern Central Youth Club and Youths for One Nigeria.
Their declaration was also supported by their Afenifere and Igbo counterpart.
Alhaji Haruna Waziri who is the spokesperson of the groups said their support for an Igbo presidency was geared towards national unity.
He promised that they will support the convener of the Nigeria Youth Summit, Iheanachor Ezeakor on the Igbo presidency project.
Meanwhile, the Ohaneze Ndigbo said that Igbos will no longer use war to resolve conflict in the country but will employ diplomacy.
The Punch reports that Chief Nnia Nwodo who is the president-general of the apex Igbo group stated this at the 2018 Igbo International Leadership and Good Governance Retreat held at Abagana, Anambra state.
The event was organised by the World Igbo Leadership Council and the World Igbo Information and Communication Network.

Nwodo said that although Igbos were facing marginalisation in the country the best way to resolve it will be through intelligence.
He insisted that never again will Igbos send their men to the war front as a means of solving their problems.
