The CAS said that the serial provision of accommodation facilities across NAF Bases was an eloquent testimony of the current leadership’s commitment to the welfare of personnel while also focusing on the development of their capacity.
The project, he said, would not only alleviate accommodation shortage for NAF personnel serving in Benin area but also significantly reduce the financial burden of rents faced by the NAF in housing its personnel.
While congratulating those personnel that would benefit from the new accommodation, the CAS charged them to ensure proper use and adequate maintenance of the facility adding that the Service and indeed the nation in return would continue to expect and truly does not deserve anything less than absolute loyalty and the best from them.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander of 107 AMG, Air Commodore Olarewaju Shobande, expressed his deep appreciation to the CAS for taking measures to address the accommodation challenges in the unit.
The Commander revealed that the unit is now able to comfortably accommodate all its airmen and women, with spare accommodation for those that could later be posted into the unit.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of keys to some of the beneficiaries of the new accommodation by the representative of the CAS.
Recenty, NAF honoured late Aircraftman Jamilu L, in appreciation of his sacrifice to end insurgency in Nigeria, by naming the newly constructed block of 30 units of one-bedroom self-contained apartments after him.
The late airman, who paid the supreme price while serving in Operation Zaman Lafiya in the northeast, was recognized for placing the interest of the nation above personal interest.
The residential accommodation, which is meant for the accommodation of Junior Non-Commissioned Officers serving in Minna, was commissioned by the NAF Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal Lawal Alao, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
