PDP national convention: Fayose robbed Ekiti delegates - APC alleges

- The APC has accused Governor Ayo Fayose of robbing Ekiti delegates at the recently-held national convention of the PDP

- The Ekiti state chapter of the ruling party alleged that Fayose only paid delegates N50,000 each, after receiving $10,000 per person, to help sway votes in favour of Uche Secondus

- The APC further alleged that the governor had also robbed the state of N2 billion from the Ecological Fund

Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, has been accused by the All Progressives Congress (APC), of shortchanging Ekiti delegates at the recently-held national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), The Cable reports.

The allegation was leveled by the spokesman of the Ekiti state chapter of the APC, Taiwo Olatubosun.

Legit.ng gathers that Olatubosun stated that while Fayose was given $10,000 for each delegate, he ended up giving them only N50,000.

The 92-member Ekiti delegation were reportedly told to vote for Uche Secondus, who eventually emerged as the national chairman of the PDP.

Olatubosun stated: “Just last week, he robbed members of his party who were delegates to PDP convention by collecting $10,000 on behalf of each of the 92 delegates but gave each delegate a pittance of N50,000, while their counterparts from other states went home with $10,000.

“This is the same way he denied taking N2 billion Ecological Fund for a very long time until APC approached Ecological Fund Office in Abuja to confirm the status of Ekiti state’s entitlement; and three days after, he confessed taking the money.

“He announced the award of exactly N2 billion even though up till now, there is no ecological project he executed with that money; and the result is what we saw early in the year when floods ravaged several parts of the state."

In a related development, Legit.ng previously reported that the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state dismissed claims by Governor Ayo Fayose that he had been discharged and acquitted by the Federal High Court over an alleged N1.3bn poultry project.

The state publicity secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the fraud case instituted against Fayose by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2005 was still pending at the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti.
