Osita Chidoka congratulates Obiano on his victory in Anambra poll

Osita Chidoka, the United Progressives Party (UPP) candidate in the Anambra gubernatorial election has congratulated Governor Willie Obiano for recording victory in the poll, even though the official results have not yet been announced by INEC.

The UPP candidate in a tweet said he called and congratulated Nkem Okeke, deputy governor of Anambra for their election victory, adding that he was unable to reach Governor Willy Obiano on the phone.

As at the time of publishing this report, Governor Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was reportedly leading in the poll in all the 21 local government areas of the state with a total of about 234,071 votes.
Premuim Times reports that he was followed by the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Tony Nwoye.

Oseloka Obaze of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, was said to have emerged third and Osita Chidoka of United Progressives Party, UPP, came a fourth.
The APGA National Youth Leader, Chuks Nwoga, has described the election as being free and fair.
Meanwhile, the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) has described the Anambra election held on Saturday, November 18 as “one of the worst” governorship elections conducted in the country since the return of democracy in 1999.
Legit.ng gathered that the PLAC executive director, Clement Nwankwo, said this during a chat with journalists in Awka, the state capital.
He said contrary to how elections should be conducted, the poll was marred by various forms of vote-buying antics.
