Defence HQ denies admission of female cadets has been stopped

The defence headquarters has denied reports in the media that the military has stopped the admission of female cadets into the regular combatant officers.
According to statement from Major General John Enenche, the director, defence information, said the news being spread in the print and online media about the stoppage of training of female cadets in order to be commissioned as regular combatant officers into the armed forces of Nigeria was false.
The statement read: ''This is an act of disinformation to the general public by mischievous individuals.

''The contents of all those publications are ill intended concoctions, not authentic and should therefore be disregarded outrightly.

“Extantly, the provision in the terms and conditions of service for female officers of the Nigerian military is that ‘they are eligible for all the types of commission that are grantable to their male counterparts’, which has not changed.’’
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the military was said to stop the admission of female cadets into the combatant course of defence HQ.
A serving general in the army said military took the decision due to complaints from some unnamed northern Muslim leaders.
