IHS Nigeria’s full name is IHS Towers. It is the largest provider of mobile telecommunications infrastructures in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The company was founded in 2001 by Issam Darwish in Lagos, Nigeria.
They specialize in the building of towers and helping mobile network operators to manage their sites. IHS Towers is one of the fastest growing tower operators in the world. The company also partners with some start-up telecommunications companies such as Smile and Spectranet. IHS Nigeria operates in three different ways:
- They build their own tower sites and lease them out to other operators.
- They acquire existing mobile network operators (MNO) sites and lease the tower space back.
- They take over management of other operator networks sites with an agreement to lease the sites out to other operators.

In Nigeria, IHS works with MNOs (mobile network operators) such as 9mobile, Airtel, Millicom, MTN, and Orange. Currently, they manage over 23000 towers in Africa. Their head office is in Lagos but they have regional offices which are located in Abuja, Asaba, Enugu, Ibadan, Kano, and Port Harcourt.
IHS Nigeria is not just about telecom towers. They also involve themselves in educational projects and several community-building initiatives in Nigeria.
