Army intercepts Boko Haram bomb squad, recovers weapons (photos)

- Nigerian army on Operation Lafiya Dole intercepted Boko Haram bomb squad

- One terrorist was killed in the operation

- Soldiers recovered some weapons and ammunition belonging to the terrorists

Nigerian soldiers in furtherance of their effort to defeat Boko Haram intercepted a terrorist bomb squad at Ngalle village, northern Borno State.

In a statement by Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman who is the director, army public relations on Sunday, October 29, he said the operation was carried out on Friday, October 27.

He said one terrorist was killed in the operation while their weapons were recovered.

In a similar operation, the army spokesperson said troops engaged Boko Haram terrorists who were taking refuge in the surroundings of Jango, Nduma, Gobara, Bala Ibrahim, Fulani Rogo and Takwala villages and environs in Gwoza Local Government Area.

Efforts of 8 Division Nigerian Army, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, to enhance troops responsiveness and domination of it's Area of Responsibility paid off handsomely on Friday 27th October 2017 afternoon, as gallant soldiers of 242 Battalion intercepted Boko Haram bomb squad at Ngalle village, northern Borno State. The intercepted bomb could have been intended for troops or innocent and peace loving villagers.

Following an attempt by the terrorists to escape on sighting troops, a terrorist was shot dead, while a huge Improvised Explosive Device (IED) cylinder was recovered. Other items recovered include an AK-47 rifle magazine, a motorcycle and some spare parts.

In a related development, troops also intercepted escaping Boko Haram terrorists crossing Maiduguri-Monguno highway at Torowa village. One of the terrorist was shot dead, while others fled into the nearby bush. The gallant troops recovered an AK-47 riffle with a magazine loaded with19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 3 mobile phones, a SIM card and jewelries.

Troops of 121 Battalion of 26 Task Force Brigade of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in furtherance of the on going clearance operations on Friday, 27th October 2017, displayed gallantry as a potent fighting force by routing out Boko Haram terrorists who were taking refuge in the surroundings of Dure, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.

The troops engaged the terrorists and smoked them out of their hideouts at Jango, Nduma, Gobara, Bala Ibrahim, Fulani Rogo and Takwala villages and environs in Gwoza Local Government Area.

During the operations, the troops neutralised 3 Boko Haram terrorists and captured one other terrorist alive. While several terrorists were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.

The troops also recovered one Fabrique Nationals (FN) rifle, one G3 rifle, charged magazines and a pair of military camouflage uniform suspected to be used by the terrorists to disguise as military personnel.

Unfortunately, one soldier sustained injury during the operation. He has since been evacuated to the unit's Regimental Aid Post, for more medical attention.

The captured terrorist has been taken into custody for further interrogation and onward passage to relevant agencies.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that troops of 112 Task Force Battalion of 22 Brigade on Operation Lafiya Dole have successfully ambushed a group of Boko Haram terrorists.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, October 26, in furtherance of the ongoing clearance operation.
