SARS officers prevent Niger Delta forum in Rivers
- The fourth session of Pan Niger Delta Forum was scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 26
- The forum was however blocked by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the early hours of Thursday
- The officials said the meeting could not hold because of issues pertaining to national interest
In the early hours of Thursday, October 26, heavily armed police officers and men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) barricaded Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
The hotel was where the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) planed to hold its fourth session.
Accordig to New telegraph, the policemen parked Hilux buses at the entrance of the hotel, thereby preventing vehicles from GRA to gain access to Aba Road, just as they prevented vehicles from moving into the expansive hotel from the back gate.

The meeting was supposed to commence at 10am Some of the delegates who had arrived were turned back and told that the meeting could not hold “because of national interest.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that a group called the Cross River National Front, comprising of some of the most eminent personalities in Cross River state, had called on the federal government to restructure the country to enable a fairer, more equitable and united federation.
The group which is an offshoot of PANDEF accused the federal government of ceding their territories twice to Cameroon without consultation and protection.
