Speaking on why the meeting was convened, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abba-Jimeta, the chief of staff to Governor Bindow, stated that the stakeholders had given Buhari their blessings for 2019 because they wanted the president to deliver on all his programmes.
He stated: “As far as Adamawa is concerned, Buhari and Osinbajo are our candidates for 2019.
“The standard practice worldwide is for a performing president to serve his two-terms in office.”
The governor’s chief of staff also decried what he described as maneuverings by some Adamawa APC members to score some cheap political points, by pitting the state government against the federal government.
Abba Jimeta further urged the president to reinstate the suspended secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal, if the investigative panel finds him not guilty.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former vice president and an Adamawa APC chieftain, was also represented at the meeting, by Yakubu Tsala, who called for unity in the ruling party.
Atiku reportedly also has plans to vie for the presidency in 2019.
