3 dead as petrol tanker explodes on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
- Three people lost their lives on Wednesday as a petrol tanker erupted in flames along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
- The driver of the tanker was over-speeding and this caused the tanker to flip over and burst out in flames before engulfing a bus parked nearby
- TRACE and FRSC officials stepped in quickly to bring the situation under control and prevent more casualties
A truck transporting petrol erupted in flames along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday, October 18, leaving three persons dead, Premium Times reports.
The development was made public by Babatunde Akinbiyi, public relations officer, Traffic Enforcement and Enlightenment Corps (TRACE).

Legit.ng gathers that Akinbiyi attributed the accident to reckless driving and confirmed that three people had died in the accident.
He disclosed that the driver of the tanker was over-speeding and this caused the vehicle to flip over and burst out in flames.
The fire then engulfed a bus parked close by.
The unfortunate tragedy occurred inbound Ibadan, after the Ogere toll gate, near Kyakyama filling station.
Akinbiyi further disclosed that TRACE and FRSC officials had stepped in to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that an auto accident on the Lagos-Ibadan highway caused the death of 30 people on Thursday night, September 14.
The accident occurred at about 8pm on Km 95 around the Elebolo Quary area on the Ibadan axis of the road.
