BREAKING: FG confirms 3 cases of monkeypox virus

- Three cases of monkeypox virus from the 13 suspected cases reported from Bayelsa state in September has been confirmed by Professor Isaac Adewole, the minister of health

- Professor Adewole also confirmed that four results from the 43 suspected cases were negative

- The confirmation was as a result of the samples which were taken to the World Health Organisation laboratory in Dakar, Senegal

Professor Isaac Adewole, the minister of health, on Monday, October 13, confirmed three cases of monkeypox virus from the 13 suspected cases reported from Bayelsa state in September.

Professor Adewole in Abuja also confirmed that four results from the 43 suspected cases reported from other states including Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Ekiti states were negative, Channels Television reports.

The samples were, however, taken to the World Health Organisation laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. The confirmation was the final report from the organisation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Jide Idris, the Lagos state commissioner for health, on Monday, October 9, said that two suspected cases of monkeypox had been recorded in the state.
