Meet 9-year-old who hawks groundnut in Anambra (photos)
- A 9-year-old Nigerian boy has been spotted hawking groundnut in Anambra state
- Aishat Alubankudi took to her Facebook page to create awareness
- She asked people to help her locate the boy as she is willing to change his story
Aishat Alubankudi, a socialite and philanthropist who refers to herself as a political tout for all Nigerian political parties, is on the lookout for a 9-year-old boy identified as Sunday Nwaeke.
Nwaeke was discovered by Benneth Nwankwo, a photographer. The young boy hawks groundnut around Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra state.
According to the brief info given about him, Nwaeke was born in Ebonyi state in 2008. He was at some point a student of Community Primary School in Iza, Ebonyi. Then he was in primary two.
After he dropped out of school, the young lad moved to Anambra in 2016 where he started living with his mother’s sister. His aunt is in the business of cooking the groundnuts sold by him.

Alubankudi on seeing the pictures of the young boy hawking groundnuts was moved to pity; this made her label the act child labour and shared the post on her Facebook page to create awareness on the issue while asking people to help her search for the boy.
The photographer who discovered him asked if he was interested in going back to school and he answered by saying he wishes to even though his parents are very poor. Nwaeke turned out to be the third child of the family. He has five siblings.

The parents of the young boy live in Iza, Ebonyi state. Alubankudi got a lot of responses from people who dropped comments under the post. Some encouraged her for her kindness and generosity while some showed interest in supporting her and giving the boy a better life.
