The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has declared his intention to contest the 2019 presidential election.
In an elaborate ceremony at Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, on Thursday, September 28, the governor said his decision to contest the election is borne put of his love for Nigeria.

He stated that he is the best person to lead the country out of its present quagmire.
The event was a party-like carnival as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithfuls from across the nation, thronged the venue in solidarity with the governor.

Legit.ng sighted dozens of the governor's supporters adorning t-shirts and caps with the inscription 'Fayose For President', singing and dancing at the event.

The event was held under very tight security as security agencies were on hand to ensure the programme was hitch free.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the PDP had said that Fayose is wasting his time.
The party through its national publicity secretary, Dayo Adeyeye, said it had earlier warned Fayose that the PDP has zoned its 2019 presidential ticket to the north.
The party said it wondered why Fayose was going against the same decision he is privy to.
